Among other works carried out onboard the “Hellespont Orfeum”, within the scope of the modernization of the control system of the propulsion installation (fully pneumatic) was designed, projected and implemented the control and monitoring system of the propulsion installation based on distributed digital controllers and respective communications to a centralized system, based on Siemens S7 PLC’s. The system controlled burning conditions in the main boilers (oxygen content), supplying steam to the turbines, optimizing steam conditions (superheating), level, pressure and temperature alarms. In this project, savings of around 4.5 T/day were achieved. Altogether, the system processed and controlled more than 250 operating signals and alarms, and all the software was developed by TecnoVeritas.
