SCR
The best cruising spots call for NOx TIER III compliance. We are specialists in NOx control, updating your vessels to a new emissions standard!
With a proven portfolio and 30 years of marine engineering practice, TecnoVeritas has a track record of excellence. Our projects are the best references for shipowners and managers:
M/V Vasco da Gama,
M/V Le Boreal;
M/V Le Austral;
M/V World Explorer;
M/V World Voyager;
M/V Vasco da Gama Case Sudy:
In March 2021, in the midst of COVID, we embraced the Vasco da Gama SCR retrofit project.
In short, the shipowner wanted to comply with NTC2008 Tier III emissions, meaning an 80% reduction in NOx pollution, so it could do expeditions in the Norwegian Heritage Fjords.
The first stage is always a 3D scan. Without it, we could not optimize the components of the SCR nor could we adequately assess the impact their introduction would have.
The design phase is centred around the catalyst housings. They are the main piece of the puzzle and where the magic happens – where the urea and the NOx meet the ceramic catalyst blocks to produce nitrogen gas and water. One of the challenges on this ship was to fit these housing into the existing (and limited) space.
we leveraged our engineering experience to make a customized design which optimized the urea’s injection and minimized impact on the vessel.
The final solutions looked like this:
We accompanied all works on-site and supported our client in getting the project done on time and with no compromise on quality.
Here is what the vessel looked while at dock:
Vasco da Gama was revamped in 2021. In 2022 we retrofitted two more ships (Ponant’s L’Austral and Le Boreal, in record time: two ships, simultaneously, in 22 days!
